Foundation
Pier Giorgio Bider, after working as head of maintenance at a well-known textile company in the Biella area, begins his entrepreneurial journey with two lathes, two manual milling machines and a small workshop near Vigliano Biellese. Distinguished in the following period for the ability to manage particularly complex machining operations.
The Race to Automation
The experience with Piedmontese industrial realities, particularly the Biella spinning mills, ignites in Pier Giorgio the ambition to create machinery capable of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of production lines. OMV begins collaborating with local companies for the construction of special machinery.
Entering the Automotive Industry
After moving to a new workshop in Cerreto Castello, OMV becomes a supplier to the renowned holding Magneti Marelli S.p.a., already in a joint venture with FIAT. Producing automatic machinery for their production lines. An example is a machine for assembling the headlights of the Renault Twingo of that era.
Water on the Ropes!
The famous historical exclamation, attributed to the sailor Benedetto Bresca, who ordered the hemp ropes under tension to be wetted to prevent them from breaking, could also have been uttered by Pier Giorgio Bider, who dedicated years from 1990 to designing and perfecting an automatic yarn steaming machine, a treatment aimed at stabilizing and strengthening the yarn for the subsequent processing phase. It is still marketed and constantly improved to keep pace with technological development.
